HELLO! I’m Jess. I am a Canadian adventure traveller, outdoor enthusiast, parent, photographer, and writer. I have travelled to many countries around the world and have explored Canada and the Western United States extensively. I have travelled throughout British Columbia from the very southern coast, all the way north and in between. I grew up in Alberta close to the Canadian Rockies and have lived in Vancouver BC since 2015. In 2020, because of external circumstances in the world, I embraced exploring BC. I now consider myself a British Columbia travel and travel with young kids expert!
My belief is that access to nature is a basic human right, and I am an advocate for the power of nature and outdoors for all.
I have a master’s degree in child development, and have extensive experience in the field. I believe that the outdoors, nature, and travel provide incredible experiences for learning and development for people of all ages.
As an aside, I recently had the opportunity to contribute to an article in the Washington post talking about the benefits of travel for children.
In 2018, I was pregnant, and unexpectedly I had a (very) medically complex pregnancy, extended hospital stay, and an immunocompromised child. From the time my son was a baby, I was told, that the safest place for us to socialize was outdoors. SO… Outdoors we went.
I share information about Canadian destinations, road trips, and family travel, (you too can be a Canadian Adventure Traveller!). I show families that an adventurous life with children is fully possible and also, enjoyable. With a perspective shift that bucket-list experiences can be right out your door, down the street, hiking, or while travelling and doing the things that you love, families feel empowered to travel and explore.
With that, I am here to encourage you to pursue a life that makes you happy, and know that you can build a life of incredible experiences and connections in relationships. Travel and nature WITH and WITHOUT kids is such an incredible way to experience life!
